The IPF76E28 mobile phone supports worldwide GSM network (4-bands), WiFi Internet browser, and VoIP communication. As an IP phone, the IPF76E28 can be used as IP extensions of IPX systems.
On the Simton IPX, you need to define an IP extension for the IP phone in "Basic Voice > Extensions > IP Extensions". The extension number and password are the authentication data when your WiFi IP phone registers with the Simton IPX. The WiFi IP phone should have network connectivity to the Simton IPX through a WiFi AP.
This article assumes that you know how to setup WiFi connection to local WiFi AP and this article mainly describes how to set up VoIP connection to your IPX system and use it as an IP extension.
1. Create VoIP Profiles
Click Menu > Tools & Setup > WLAN setup, and then click VoIP Setting > New Profile as in the following figures.
You can give a name to the new VoIP profile. In the profile, you will configure VoIP account information based on the IP extension definition in the IPX.
- User name: it should be the IP extension number, e.g. 111;
- Password: it should be the same as configured in IP extension on the IPX, e.g. 111;
- Domain: it should be the IP address of the IPX, e.g. 192.168.6.1 (if the WiFi AP is in the IPX LAN). If the WiFi IP phone reaches the IPX through the public Internet, the domain should be something like abcd.myIPX.net, which is the built-in Internet domain name of the IPX.
Move the screen down, click on Advanced, and configure the following:
- Registrar: same as in domain
- Outbound proxy address: same as domain
- Outbound proxy port: 8060
- Local SIP port: 8060
- RTP Port: 20000
- Expiration time: 60
- Preferred audio codec: G729
- DTMF: Out of band (RTP)
Click Done.
You can define multiple profiles for future selection when you use the WiFi IP phone in different WLAN environment or the WiFi IP phone registers to different IPX systems.
2. Associate a Profile with Current WLAN
Click Menu > WLAN, click on Enable. You will see a list of WiFi AP near you. You select and click on the available WiFi AP that you want to use, and then click on Connect.
Click the icon on the bottom-left (maybe bottom-right, depending on the model) of the screen, and then click Edit.
You have to fill the password if the WiFi AP requires the WEP authentication. You also need to select a VoIP profile by clicking on Edit next to the VoIP Server.
Finally click Done.
The WiFi IP phone is ready to be used as IPX IP extension.
3. Make VoIP calls
After enabling WiFi WLAN, there will be an indicator on the top of screen as in the following figure:
Red: WLAN is not connected;
Blue/Orange: WLAN is connected, but VoIP registration failed;
Green: VoIP connectivity is fine, ready for VoIP calls.
After dialing a number, press the hardware button VoIP or software button VoIP to make a call using Simton IPX. The WiFi IP phone will follow the same rules as other IP extension on the IPX system.
4. Notes
When you use it as GSM phone only, you may want to disable WLAN for saving battery.
