How to Setup Voice Mail and Email Service

When an extension is busy or not answered, the extension can be configured to let the caller to leave voice message. Currently, IPX system provides two ways for voice message services: voice mail box and voice email.

Voice Email Service

When a caller leaves a message, the voice message can be delivered to the owner of the called extension through an email. The voice message is in WAV format and attached to the email. User can use any computer software to listen to the message.

The system administrator needs to configure the SMTP mail server information in "system>system setting>email server". Otherwise, the IPX will not be able to delivery any emails.

In the extension configuration, the email address should be configured. This is the email address that will receive the voice email. In the call forwarding section, you can setup the forwarding option to be "voice email".

Voice Mail Service

Simton IPX P100/H500/B2000 systems need to work with Simton IPX S6000 server system for voice mail service.

In IPX S6000 server, individual voice mail boxes should be created for individuals in your organization. The voice mail box numbers can have very different number from the IPX extension numbers. The IPX S6000 server should be reachable from the IPX P100/H500/B2000.

In IPX P/H/B, administrator should configured the server information in "advanced voice>external services>voice mail server".

In the extension configuration, the voice mail box number should be configured. In the call forwarding section, you can setup the forwarding option to be "voice mail".

When you get a voice mail notification on the extension or by an email, you can access the voice mail box by dialing *77# on the extension or by browsing the voice mail box through web GUI if you know the address of the voice mail server.
